Monthly events - January

Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year!) We enjoyed seeing many of you at our first meeting of the year and again at the Paphiopedilum Party the next morning. Coming up next we have our regularly scheduled Work Party on Sat., Jan. 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Stacy’s house! Join us for the return of our PET Potting Method/PET Repotting Work Party! If you have been growing Catasetinae and want to bring them to be potted into PET style growing and/or repotted, please RSVP to our general email.

Monthly Events - February

Next month our General Meeting IS ONE WEEK EARLY! Please mark your calendars for the FIRST Friday of February, the 6th. Everything else will be the same (location, doors opening at 5:45 p.m. with setup beginning at 5:15 p.m., canned food donations, finger foods potluck, show and tell, opportunity plants, and hearing from a great speaker!) Karen Kimmerle of Island Sun Orchids will be speaking to us on orchid hybrid variability in seedling populations! This ties into KOS launching our membership project growing up seedlings from different orchid crosses! You’ll need to agree to take good care of your plant and to photograph it when it blooms! The goal is to create a photo chart comparing all of the different seedlings and how they bloom out!

Our next Work Party will be held on Sat., Feb. 28, 2026. KOS will be volunteering with Kela of Island Girl Plant Designs! Kela is the person who donates all of those large Phalaenopsis and sometimes Dendrobiums to KOS, like the 400 we gave away at last year’s KOS 40th Anniversary Mother’s Day Show and Sale! We will be helping her with repotting and cleaning up many of her orchids like those that she uses for her business before they are later donated to groups like KOS! Once we send out the sign up sheet for this work party, please do sign up to help out!
